Here’s the first mosaic I did, a few years ago. It’s a house number. The orange tiles are from a broken tea cup and the blue background tiles are stained glass.

A little necklace I made recently of briolette stones. One of these shots is my friend’s necklace she got from her daughter from Tiffany’s. Can you guess which one? It’s kinda obvious because the Tiffany briolettes are cut perfectly. My stones are from ebay and etsy on the cheap. My friend says she likes mine better. But that just shows you what a lovely person she is because I know she is just saying that.

My friend Susan just came back from a trim shop in NYC, Cody’s Tassels and Trim, and brought this back for us to make necklaces with beads on like we saw at Nordstrom’s recently.

Here are pics of the trim shop:

This tutorial is lovely! Such a satisfying activity. Also, I love a tutorial that has super-step-by-step photos. See the whole thing here.

Wednesday: New work by Marco Marella
My daughter, when she was 12, sewed this bag for Ashley’s son who she is completely smitten with. She took pictures of him, printed them out on transfer paper, ironed them onto fabric, cut them out, and sewed the whole thing together. She made the pictures of Oliver as little pockets to hold cellphones. I’m bragging; sorry. Can’t help it.
The fabric is from Reprodepot.

Here’s our lovely selection of new fabric bolts by Carolyn Gavin for P&B Textiles. The quality of the cotton is really yummy. You can buy the fabric here.

Here’s a potholder I made of Carolyn’s Wild Thyme fabric.

A closer look. Check out the word, “Yummy” that my Bernina machine can do.
.
A different potholder using fabric by me (the daffodils) and the pink houses are by Lisa Congdon, and the red line-art flowers are by Carolyn.

While I’m shooting snaps, I thought I’d show you this little fabric wallet. Sorry about the blurriness.

The inside..

A pretty leather wallet for my cellphone. I get the leathers on ebay.

Here’s the inside with velcro dots.

Monday: Mati Rose McDonough came to visit us last week from San Francisco and gave us this wonderful pillow.

Trina Dalziel writes,
“Hi Lilla,
This autumn I’ve spent a few days painting china at a wonderful shop /workshop in Bloomsbury, London. It’s called Cosmo China and it has been running for over twenty years. Artists are invited to paint, there work is displayed on their own shelf and if their work sells they are invited back…I have to wait and see if mine sells! Sitting around a table with artists and using a paintbrush is a lovely change from working at home and too much click clicking of my mouse!”

Needlepoint has been one of the last areas to buy cool art. So I’m thrilled to see this. See more here.
