Where do you live?
Toronto, Canada in a 126 year old Victorian House.

Where have you lived?
J’burg. South Africa. London, UK and now Toronto

What medium do you use?
Watercolour and Gouache, pencil crayons, ink, Procreate, Illustrator and Photoshop

How do you stay inspired?
I think the biggest thing for me now is travel. I find to expand my visual world often and I find travelling to exotic locations is the best to stimulate my creative brain.

Where do you buy your art supplies?
Du Serres Art store, Curry’s and Aboveground

Do you work traditionally or digitally?
Trained to work the traditional way, but now I do both now. Draw, paint and work with digital materials.

What color combination are you most excited about right now?
Pink with everything

Who do you follow online?
Monica Forsberg, Miru Brugmann, Kindahkhalidy, Kenesha Sneed, Charlotte Agar, Herikita, Josefina Schargorodsky, Makoto Kagoshima, Mogu Takahashi and so many others.

Why do you like being an illustrator in 10 words or less?
It’s an outlet for my intense need to create.

If you weren’t an illustrator, what would you be?
A full time artist/painter or some kind of volunteer for some great cause.

What illustration job would you love to get (your dream job)?
To design a mural for Greenpeace on one of their ships like the Arctic Sunrise or design for Marimekko

Name something you do in your spare time.
Yoga + work in the garden.

What’s the strangest work experience you’ve ever had?
Being a nanny/au pair for 3 wild English kids.

What are you reading now?
The Elephant Suite by Paul Theroux.

What recent book do you recommend for a good read?
The inheritance of loss, a 1000 splendid sons, Middlesex and Cutting for Stone

Where would you like to travel to next?
Spain, Morocco, Japan, Peru.

What show have you binge-watched?
I have loved Narcos, Shameless, Fargo, Peaky Blinders, Weeds, Madmen, Queen of the South, Alias Grace and so many more…

What movie have you seen several times?
The Party with Peter Sellers

Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Lola from Charlie and Lola

What is your favorite cheese?
I love cheese but I’m trying to be vegan so cheese is off limits :-(

Lotus Blossom

Do you wear shoes when you do art?
No…

What do you listen to while you work?
The sound of the bulldog snoring. Sometimes I put on music but can find it hard to concentrate. My mother always said I never had much co-ordination cause I didn’t crawl as a baby, so that’s why I can’t focus on 2 things at the same time.

What artist are you reincarnated from?
Matisse, haha I wish.

If you could eat only one food, what would it be?
Bread

How do you stay in shape?
Yoga, walking, biking at the gym..

How don’t you stay in shape?
Sitting for too long on the computer, snacking popcorn with lots of salt while watching a late night movie.

What is your current favorite font?
I love Trixie and Matto

How do you take your coffee?
With nut milk, no sugar. I also have 1 cup of tea at lunch and a cup of herbal tea at night like Camomile.

What question would you most like to be asked?
What’s your favourite flower. The answer is I have many including Magnolia, Frangipani, Tulip, Orchid, Rununculus, Sweetpea.

What recent illustration job have you enjoyed doing?
Packaging for Seattle Chocolate Company

What was your favorite illustration assignment?
I loved designing chocolate packaging for Ekorrens Ekologiska as well as a series of 4 Kids Nature books I’m illustrating with paint.
