Poster Project for Obama for America
This is fantastic! A national American presidential campaign “that values art and design”! That’s a first.

From the website:
This campaign values art and design, which is part of the reason we’re building a large in-house creative team here as we speak. But we also know there are a lot of great creatives out there who might not be in a position to move to Chicago and work for us full-time, but still want to contribute to the cause.
Entries must be received by 11/4/11.
Three winners will receive a framed edition of their poster signed by Barack Obama.

While this contest is, I’m sure, well-intended, it’s also spec work, which I think is troubling. Asking designers to work for free to promote JOBS? It’s hypocritical and ironic. Yes, a signed poster from President Obama is enticing, BUT they really should add a stipend to this.
Hi, Dawn. I also thought of this, and was concerned, as an advocate of artists getting fairly compensated. The way I think of it is, is that you could donate your money, your time to volunteer, or donate your talent.
