Artists draw for Early Voting

Dear Readers,
I’ve asked my artists to do art on the important topic of voting early. A huge percentage of people are voting early. It’s unprecedented.
Why is it important? To avoid long lines and voter fraud. To be sure you don’t have any problems on election day. It’s estimated that 24% of voters will vote early!
So I’ve asked my artists to do art on the topic to help encourage you to get out and vote. I’m posting the images as they come in, so check back regularly.
I’m starting with a delightful piece by Carolyn Gavin. I already have pieces by Marco and by Rebecca that I’ll post soon.
Click here to find out how you can vote early.

I’d love to know if you’ve voted early.

Warm regards,
Lilla

We’re getting lots of great jobs…

Dear Economy,

We are not intimidated. We are doing lots of great promotions and still getting lots of great jobs. We are hopeful. We are not naive. We know things can change but we need to tell artists and art directors that life goes on. Not all sectors of the economy will be hit.

Yesterday we got a huge job for a major cool retailer for Sarajo to do 50 – 100 illlustrations for a photo shoot for an ad campaign. You’ll see this in early January 2009. Can’t say until then. Here’s a piece of Sarajo’s that helped her get the job:

Today a major credit card company has assigned Matte to do art for a possible cool project. A major tire company has approached us this week for a collateral with an eco/watercolor theme.

Also this week: among other things, artwork by Diane is being presented to Pier 1 for a wine journal, four horoscope illustrations were commissioned for Carolyn by a London magazine, and it’s only Thursday.

Time Management

We’re getting Jenn lots of great jobs. That’s a good thing. But she was a bit feeling swamped, so she came in and I went over my time management system with her. It involves big chunks of time and post-its. We determined that she prefers a visual/tactile rather than electronic system.

She went home and emailed me this, and here’s what she had to say:
“I’ve gotten myself on a schedule: I assigned myself projects to work on each day and posted the dates at which they’re due at a client’s. I got myself an actual, physical calendar (I just don’t have the discipline to organize around one of those computery ones). Now I can literally see where I’m at on any given project.”
