ANNOUNCING OUR NEWEST ARTIST!

We are beyond excited to announce we are now representing Albert Arrayás. Unlike how we usually take on artists–I typically find artists in my Make Art That Sells courses–Albert approached us directly.

We instantly fell in love with his dreamy, imaginative, other-worldly, and confident style. We can envision him illustrating very beautiful picture books and creating stunning work for editorial articles.

He’s a true original. If you’re interested, be sure to contact us as we know he will get booked up.

Allow me to show you a few of his stunning pieces. I’ve selected a few of my favorites, but there are loads more, which you can see here.

Our newest artist Albert Arrayás

Albert has illustrated over 25 children’s books and has authored/illustrated three children’s book, primarily in Spain. We’re excited to bring him to the US and UK markets where we know he’ll shine.
“I’m from Barcelona, Spain.
I use watercolors, pencil and colored pencil, and sometimes digital media like Procreate and Photoshop.
While I work, I live in a little house with my dogs and my wife. I am the happiest man in the world.”

Lilla: What recent book do you recommend for a good read?
Albert: I just read Tatiana’s book Țîbuleac, “The Summer My Mother Had Green Eyes” which is very sincere and very raw but I liked it. The tone of the book is similar to the Fleabag series.

Retreat highlights

We had a fabulous time at our 6th Annual Artists and VIPs Retreat, held virtually this year for the first time.
Above: Here we are, the Studio Ladies and LRS Artists Zoom with VIPs–art directors, publishers, and editors. Later, the artists and the VIPs broke into pairs for ten minutes apiece to view the artists’ latest work. We call it Speed Art Dating, and it’s a wonderful way for the artists and VIPs to meet.
We’re thinking of doing another one again in early 2021. Art directors and editors: Want to be a part of it next time? Reply to this email! We’d love to have you.

One of the many things I love about the class is the opportunity to write a texts for the students to illustrate. For the most recent course, I wrote a story entitled I Paint Purple. Below, see how my artists illustrated my story and the other stories from class, each so brilliantly and quite differently.

If you’re an editor or art director and are interested in having a look at my text or more of the art from class, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
