“Hi Lilla,
I just finished illustrating the first of a series of three commercials for Good Times Restaurants. The campaign will highlight the introduction of Hand Breaded Springer Mountain Farms All Natural Chicken Tenders and Chicken Tender Sandwiches. It was a great collaboration between several people. Tom Evans who provided the creative, as well as directed and wrote the campaign and Larae Netten provided art direction (both from Stamen Pistil Advertising and Design). Jason Metter of Blue Fruit, Inc. brought my illustrations to life and added great subtleties and movement. Tom Lecher of Echo Boys, Minneapolis, arranged the music.
I have been wanting to get into this medium for awhile and this was a great project to get my feet wet.
I will post the other 2 when they are finished. Thanks!”

The Elephant from Baghdad book illustrations and design by Jon Cannell
Jon writes:
“Hi Lilla,
I am finally posting the third book that I collaborated on with Mary Tavener Holmes and John Harris. The other two were My Travels With Clara and A Giraffe Goes To Paris. It is the true story of an albino elephant named Abu that was given as a gift to Charlemagne, emperor of most of Europe by Harun Al-Rashid, caliph of Baghdad. It is a heart warming tale of the friendship between the emperor and Abu. There were coins, portraits and tapestries created with Abu’s image on them. Charlemagne showed off the beautiful Abu to visiting princes and kings. When Abu died of old age, Charlemagne was so heartbroken that he wept. The book was published by Marshall Cavendish Children and is available on Amazon.
Better Bean packaging illustrations by Jon Cannell
Jon writes:
“Hi Lilla,
Better Bean Company launched their new packaging and web site with a illustration that I completed a few months ago. Now that the product is out I can finally show the work. The illustration was used for the web site as well as the side panel of the new packaging. There are several symbols in the illustration including the Three Sisters which in Native American culture represent the three agricultural crops (squash, maize and beans). It was great to work with Keith Kullberg who is very passionate about beans and healthy living. They sell at healthy grocery stores such as PCC Natural Markets and Whole Foods Market and at Wegmans in your area. I hope you get a chance to try them!”

Jon writes:
“Hi Lilla!
Here are some past Land of Nod products that I am just getting to posting as well as a few new ones. Land of Nod always does a great job on the details. Some of the new products include firefighter wood blocks and wood books that are robot and space themed.” See more of Jon’s LON products here.

Land of Nod bedding by Jon Cannell
Jon writes:
“Hi Lilla!
My boy bedding and crib bedding just came out for Land of Nod. It is called “Come Fly With Me” and features airplane themed artwork. I love the details they added including embroidered line work and dimensional stitched on fabrics. The boy bedding includes a quilt, a duvet cover, printed sheets, 3 different pillow case designs, 2 shams and a boarding pass throw pillow. There is also a luggage tag rug and navy blue drapes with an airmail detail along the bottom edge. The crib bedding features a blanket, a crib bumper, 2 fitted sheets, a crib skirt, and 2 different changer pad covers. This was a dream job and I really enjoyed working on it.”
