“Hi Lilla,
Here is the last illustration in a 7 month series I did for Vegetarian Magazine in the UK. This is the layout with photography added. Rebecca Bradley’s students’ work on They draw and cook blog.

Rebecca writes:

“As well as being part of Lilla’s group, I am a full time professor of Illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). I am currently teaching a class called ‘edible illustration’- pretty self explanatory! We just did a project with a view to it being posted on www.theydrawandcook.com. Well, Nate loved the work and is not only posting every image- the work is also being considered for inclusion in the upcoming recipe book! So kudos to my talented and lovely students, and thanks to Nate and Salli at TDAC!”

New Work by Rebecca Bradley

Rebecca writes us:

“Hi Lilla; I have just finished a piece for the LA Times Home section which I wanted to share. It was a rush job- from start to finish in a few days. In fact i had only a few hours to get sketches to the art director. I have attached the sketches and then the final. The story was about grandparents raising their granddaughter. I wanted to use the symbol of the family tree.”

Rebecca Bradley’s Munny Doll for Vinylmore 3

Rebecca writes:

“Hi Lilla; I made my first munny doll for this show, a local phenomenon – Vinylmore 3. Always an event. My munny is a pink garden munny- so many munnys have a dark edge to them- mine is deliberately light and decorative. It was an accidental collaboration with my 3 year old son Ben.”

New work by Rebecca Bradley

Great new work, loose and masterful with watercolor. Watercolor colors can be garish, or overly primary, or just passe. Rebecca brings her British sensibility and the British watercolor tradition to her graceful use of watercolor. Her color palettes are always a surprise.

You know, I’m thinking, too, that her work is very observed. It doesn’t have a glib, formulaic quality like an I’ve-drawn-this-face-a-billion-times look. Check out the very succinct, minimal two pink lines to make those pretty, sexy, sad lips.

A book cover that sadly wasn’t used. But we love it, and I bet she’ll get work from it.
