Today, I’d love to spotlight one of my busiest artists, Åsa Gilland, who I discovered a few years ago in my MATS courses. I fell in love with her appealing characters, rich textures, and excellent storytelling.
You can easily see why she is so frequently requested for book illustration work. I’ve picked a few favorite recent pieces that I thought you’d enjoy. Scroll down to see more or jump over here to see her work on our site and read more about her here.

My dad was a mapmaker who’d spend summers outdoors detailing aerial photos. I’d pass time in the car, drawing creatures and folks entangled in perplexing drama. I’m still pretty good at drawing in a moving car.

ANNOUNCING OUR NEWEST ARTIST!

We are beyond excited to announce we are now representing Albert Arrayás. Unlike how we usually take on artists–I typically find artists in my Make Art That Sells courses–Albert approached us directly.

We instantly fell in love with his dreamy, imaginative, other-worldly, and confident style. We can envision him illustrating very beautiful picture books and creating stunning work for editorial articles.

He’s a true original. If you’re interested, be sure to contact us as we know he will get booked up.

Allow me to show you a few of his stunning pieces. I’ve selected a few of my favorites, but there are loads more, which you can see here.

Our newest artist Albert Arrayás

Albert has illustrated over 25 children’s books and has authored/illustrated three children’s book, primarily in Spain. We’re excited to bring him to the US and UK markets where we know he’ll shine.
“I’m from Barcelona, Spain.
I use watercolors, pencil and colored pencil, and sometimes digital media like Procreate and Photoshop.
While I work, I live in a little house with my dogs and my wife. I am the happiest man in the world.”

Lilla: What recent book do you recommend for a good read?
Albert: I just read Tatiana’s book Țîbuleac, “The Summer My Mother Had Green Eyes” which is very sincere and very raw but I liked it. The tone of the book is similar to the Fleabag series.

Sarah writes:
I’m in portrait/fan art mode! Been nibbling at this piece for a minute and finished last week. If you don’t know, Slick Woods @slickwoods is a dynamo, an artist, and a boundary breaker. Giving her the label of supermodel seems so narrow! Slick is a beam of bad a*s light! She’s changing the tired perception of what beauty is in the world and I’m here for it. She’s worked with Rihanna, Mark Jacobs, UGGS, Vogue and soooooo many others. Not only is she incredibly beautiful, she’s hilarious as well. Her one liners on @lauraperlongo Moms In Hot Tubs kill me. (Yes she’s also a mom) Slick your spirit speaks to me! I had to put my brush to the paper✨✨✨✨✨
