Matte’s new work for Jonathan Adler
This piece is entitled, “Count Abernathy’s brother Sigmund Abernathy on his first trip to the United States with Mr. Owl bumps into a hungry yet friendly Augustus the lion.” We love you, Matte!
Matte was asked to do a whole series of pieces for the Jonathan Adler shops which will be shown at the Madison Avenue, Soho, and Columbus Avenue stores in NYC.
Tomorrow: Bonnie Dain’s recycle pieces.
New work by Janell Genovese. Felt alphabet.
This is such a cool piece by Janell. She made the things out of felt; definitely a fresh take on alphabets. This is available for license and I bet it’ll be snapped up at Surtex.
Janell is also going to work on a numbers piece.
Tomorrow: Hand-Sewn Felt Doll by Mimi Kirchner
Some great new work by Jon Cannell
I’m going to tell you something a little surprising. I’ve been rep’ing Jon for a lot of years. (That’s not the surprising part.) At first, Jon didn’t get a lot of work. Hard to believe. He is perfect for editorial. Why didn’t he get work? I think he was ahead of his time. It happens. Don’t use that as an excuse. You will know if you’re ahead of your time if really great art directors love your work but there’s not a lot of jobs yet. Don’t despair!
I’m happy to say that that is a distant memory and Jon is a very busy artist.
BTW, these pieces are all work from illustration jobs.

Tomorrow: A recent interview with Sarajo Frieden for Blu Magazine.
Bonnie Dain’s magazine work. Great line.
Bonnie’s line work is pure freedom and confidence. Partly why she’s so busy with work is that you can see the pleasure she gets from making art.
Tomorrow: Helen’s work for the new Klutz book.
