Suzy Ultman – Baby Room Fun

Suzy writes:

“Lilla,
My good friend Cara’s growing belly (she’s expecting her second wee one) doesn’t even compare to her larger knack for styling a room. Cara sent me pictures from the baby’s new room chock full of fun art & accessories. She combined pieces from my “Home Sweet Home” collection along with vintage posters, Lisa Dejohn originals, and a Joanna Ramage vintage type print. Cara even managed to fit-in my “Paper Doll Parade” girlies and my “Blandford Birdies”. I love the unconventional baby room look. I can only hope, for Cara’s sake, that the artwork also induces many hours of good sleep.”

Suzy Ultman for SweetiePie Press

Suzy writes:

“Hi Lilla!
This summer, I met a crafty Canadian all-star and head honcho of SweetiePie Press, Becky Johnson. SweetiePie specializes in commissioned artist buttons. My first set with Becky’s press is “High Street”, available alongside the likes of “Contamination”, “Deep Sea”, “Toofs” and “Botanical Magic”.

“High Street” is a collection of smiling buildings hailing from a midwest town with new england flair (thanks to 11 Connecticut families who settled the Ohio village in 1803). So, grab a pack of buttons and pin on some fashionable history.”

Buttons available here.

Suzy Ultman creates a Critter Community

Suzy writes:

“Lilla,
Welcome to Critter Community. My latest Robert Kaufman fabric collection was inspired by my love of the forest, as a kid & still today. My childhood home backed up to the woods. The neighborhood was actually called “Park Forest”. I grew up playing under a canopy of trees: picking berries, hunting for lost treasure, chasing squirrels, spying on deer etc. (*See the photo below with me, the one in grass-green halter top, and my older sister hanging by “our” woods.)

Weather permitting, I still take weekly nature walks. I find the forest very relaxing and love watching it’s inhabitants scurry about. Enjoy! Suzy

Suzy Ultman – Turtles & Toadstools

Suzy writes:

“Hi Lilla.
I am excited to share my latest Chronicle project. It started as a collage that I created from scraps of office paper (I love to cut & paste in my free time). I was thrilled when Chronicle adopted the collage for this fanciful journal. We thoughtfully designed every spread, from cover to cover, to add whimsy to your writing experience. My favorite is the turtle page with writing space in the shell. “Turtles & Toadstools” can be pre-ordered now, and will deliver in the new year. Happy Journaling!”

Hi Y’all – Suzy Ultman goes South

Suzy writes:

“Hi Lilla.
Since I was 12 years old, my family has been road tripping to Coastal Carolina for summer holiday. We spend most of our time at the beach but make daily excursions to the farm stands. We also put aside one afternoon for an antiquing field trip. There is nothing like hunting for treasure in 100 degree heat. The southern hospitality & charming shops make-up for the sweltering conditions. Then, we end our excursion with a big glass of ice cold sweet tea. Enjoy this small taste of my southern adventure.”
