A few of my favorite picks

Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite picks by my artists.

Contact us to assign or license. We’re happy to help!

Anke Rega

Animation by Anke Rega

Kelly Anne Dalton

Kelly Anne is currently taking my Illustrating Children’s Book course and writes, “Time for another round of Make Art That Sells Illustrating Children’s Books. I chose “Greta & the Wolves”, a wonderful text by co-teacher Zoe Tucker. I can’t wait to dig into the story and Greta’s world over the next four weeks.”

Kendra Binney

Clairice Gifford

Clairice writes, “I recently did the design for these Fika cookie boxes for Valentine’s Day. So excited to see the actual packaging and is it bad I’m even more excited to eat the cookies. The lettering says ‘many hugs’ in Swedish.”

Mara Penny

Hsinping Pan

Click on this image to see a delightful video that Hsinping Pan created for Land of Nod.

Åsa Gilland

Åsa writes, “Here’s a sneak peek of something I’ve been working on. Last year started out very rough but in autumn some amazing things happened. The fabulous Lilla Rogers Studio took me on and I remember telling Lilla that I’d love to illustrate a children’s book. I am so grateful that happened and for getting to work on this beautiful story The Perfect Shelter for Little Tiger Press, coming in the Spring of 2020. Crazy what can happen in a year.”

Bambi Ramsey

Bambi writes, “Meet Jack and Pearl… working on my characters for the latest Make Art That Sells kids book class and getting happily swept away by a world of tide pools and ocean goodness. Story by the lovely Zoe Tucker“. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

I took a whole bunch of photos in the Studio of new products just in, illustrated by our illustrators. Plus a cool walking bird.

We have clients in so many industries and we love them all–editorial, home décor, stationery… You keep our artists engaged and busy, with loads of fascinating products you’ve asked them to illustrate.

Here’s a sampling of some recent products. Dive in and enjoy. And thank you to all of our clients, old and new, and future ones, too!

Congratulations to Flora Waycott!

Flora’s stunning pop-up card for The Museum of Modern Art won a Louie Award for best Christmas card in the boxed category! The prestigious Louie Awards recognize the most outstanding greeting cards marketed in the U.S.

Congrats, Flora!

Carolyn Gavin

This is a fun one. Lots of Lovely Art’s gorgeous new art kit subscription box launched this month, fully illustrated by watercolor master Carolyn Gavin. It includes watercolors, markers, brush, pencil and an easy block colour project created exclusively by Carolyn for creating simple landscapes, as well as 3 great projects inspired by Hockney, Hundertwasser and Klee.

Hsinping Pan

Happy journals and card sets by Hsinping Pan for teNeues. Coming soon: we’ve got lot of brand new books illustrated by Hsinping to show you.

There’s a reason that Trina Dalziel gets so much editorial work:
1) She can draw and concept anything
2) Her style is a clear read, and
3) her art is delicate put powerful and right for pretty much any magazine

Cover of The Mindfulness Journal by Trina Dalziel and card for Papyrus by Helen Dardik. By the way, the flowers on that Helen card are huge honkin’ gems.

Clairice Gifford

Not only is Clairice Gifford an illustrator, but she’s a top-notch type designer, having lettered some impressive titles. Here’s a piece she did for Southern Living Magazine.

Tara Lilly

Look at these beauties we recently got in! Tara Lilly’s color palettes are charming, yet she always manages to come up with new ones. Plate series for TAG, Ltd.

Kendra Binney

You can see why Kendra’s images get snapped up for cards. They are modern and elegant, and easy to send to anyone. Here’s a recent design for Calypso Cards.

Jessica Allen

Seattle Chocolate’s “Moon Rocks” bar

Seattle Chocolate is partnering with The Museum of Flight to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the very first moon landing. This bar has been so popular they added additional print runs! Congrats, Jessica!

Flora Waycott

We love the delicacy of Flora Waycott’s work. You can see why she gets so much floral work. It has a look of vintage botanicals, yet very modern.

Anke Rega

One of Anke Rega’s signatures is her use of various blue hues. Here’s a charming personal piece she did which would make a sweet card. Available for licensing – just contact us!

Kate Mason

What I adore about Kate Mason is her earth-mother charm in her soul and in her art. (Did you know she’s got 5 kids?) Check out the ants. I’m pretty crazy about those grapes, too.

Ann Boyajian

Ann Boyajian has always had a gift with drawing cats and dogs in a way that brings them to life. These lovelies for TAG Ltd.

NEW ILLUSTRATED BOOKS by our artists: Truth and daring, birds, and happiness.

Today I thought you might enjoy a selection of recent book commissions, and a bit about why each artist was asked to illustrate that particular book.

Contact us to assign or license. We’re happy to help!

Plus, stay tuned for our new artist reveal!

Sarah Walsh

Truth & Daring – A Journal for the Thoughtful & Bold  (Chronicle Books)

This illustration commission was a match made in heaven–Sarah’s gorgeous and varied lettering was beautifully paired with Truth and Dare prompts. The variety of lettering design and layout keeps the book interesting. Buy it here.

My First Book of Birds (Walker Books)

Not only can Zoe paint gorgeous birds, but she’s also able to depict them with great specificity, as was needed for this charming instructional book.

Buy it here.

Nature Journal (Breathe Special (UK))
and
Here’s why Trina was asked to illustrate these two books: Both her lettering and line work are delicate and calming–a good fit for both books.
Trina writes:
The Nature Journal was developed from one of my own ideas which gave me the opportunity to do a lot of hand-lettering. I also created an original digital font for the headings. Buy it here.
For the The Happiness Diary, I received the text and rough suggestions of page layouts. I worked from there developing a color palette, decorative borders, spot illustrations and then I illustrated the double-page spreads to accompany the text. Buy it here.
